Federer lifts trophy
08 September, 2008 | 22:09
Roger Federer produced his best tennis of the year to win his 5th consecutive US Open Final with a 3 set victory 6-2, 7-5, 6-2.
He was back at the top of his game, dispelling the doubts of those who thought his career may have gone into decline, with an emphatic win and his 13th Gran Slam Title.
Some tenacious tennis from Andy wasn't quite enough against the world No 2 who dominated from the beginning.
Disappointing for Andy but a fantastic fortnight which saw him finally beat Rafael Nadal and show just why he's worthy of his new status as the world no 4 in both the Race and ATP rankings.
He'll be back to the Grand Slam he loves so much next year for another tilt at the title.
